Biography
Dr. Amrish Joshi is a palliative physician within the Richmond Integrated Hospice Palliative Care Program. Dr. Joshi has a background in family medicine and over eight years full-time experience in palliative care, initially at Fraser Health and now with Vancouver Coastal Health. He completed a Master of Science in palliative medicine at Cardiff University and a Master of Law in medical law and ethics at the University of Edinburgh, and also received subspecialty training in adult palliative medicine with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
As part of his duties as a community palliative physician, he works with primary care providers and the home care teams to provide palliative care in the community and in conjunction with the tertiary palliative care unit in Richmond Hospital. He is a clinical assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, teaching both medical students and residents. He is active in research and is continues to work with the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute on a number of projects relevant to palliative care. His research interests relate to increasing cultural knowledge and sensitivity when providing palliative care services.
