Cheyenne Johnson

Cheyenne Johnson is Saulteaux (Ojibwe) and mixed Settler ancestry. She is a displaced status member of the Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty 4 Reserve (Valley River) in western Manitoba. She is a registered nurse who works in addiction and substance use care in Vancouver, with a Master of Public Health from Simon Fraser University. She is currently the executive director at the BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) and the founding director of the BCCSU’s Addiction Nursing Fellowship Program. 

Cheyenne is passionate about providing public education to reduce stigma and improve the addiction system of care in B.C. As an adjunct professor at the School of Nursing at University of British Columbia, she actively collaborates with interdisciplinary clinicians, educators and researchers across Canada. She is currently on the Board of Directors at the Association for Multidisciplinary Education and Research in Substance Use and Addiction and with the Portland Hotel Services Society. Cheyenne is also the committee co-chair at the Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program. She has co-authored many articles related to addiction medicine and addiction nursing.
