Biography
Dr. Julia Schmidt is interested in understanding and improving everyday life for people after brain injury. Her research is focused on self-awareness, identity, role changes, interventions to improve activities of daily living and mechanisms of brain injury and recovery.
Dr. Schmidt is an assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia. She completed her Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy at the University of Alberta. Her Doctor of Philosophy was obtained from the University of Queensland, Australia, with a focus on the efficacy of cognitive interventions for people with traumatic brain injuries. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Brain Behaviour Lab at UBC exploring the neurophysiological profile of youth with concussion.
