Biography
Dr. Pierre-julien Coulaud is a postdoctoral research fellow at the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use. He holds a PhD in public health, a Master of Science in infectious diseases and a Master of Science in public health from Aix-Marseille University. His research interests include the substantive areas of sexual health, substance use and mental health services among marginalised populations. His research uses interdisciplinary approaches to identify solutions for problems facing vulnerable populations and health care providers, with a particular focus on access to care. In his PhD research, Pierre-julien used qualitative and quantitative methods to examine HIV prevention among men who have sex with men, and peer-educators and healthcare providers from community-based organizations in West Africa (Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Togo).
